What Is a Cannabis Vape Pen and How Does It Work ?

This is my second column specifically about cannabis concentrates , and the various forms consumers will see them in on dispensary shelves . Vape pens are a type of vaporizer designed specifically to vaporize cannabis distillates and oils . They are called pens because the compact design of the vape device closely resembles that of a traditional pen . Here we will discuss the different parts and types of pens on the market that consumers typically have access to .
The way vape pens operate is relatively simple . Regardless of whether the vape pen is reusable or disposable , the pens usually have five parts .

The cartridge ( often referred to as vape cartridge or cart ) is a little tank of cannabis oil or THC distillate . Some are refillable , while others are made to be thrown away when empty . Most tanks can easily be screwed onto the battery when you ’ re ready to start your session .

Battery : The battery in a vape pen is typically a rechargeable lithium-ion battery ( though if you ’ re using a disposable vape pen , it may not be rechargeable ) . If purchasing a rechargeable vape pen , you will usually get a USB charging cord with it to ensure your battery always has power .
Atomizer : The atomizer is the heating element inside the pen . The atomizer is responsible for heating the cannabis concentrate ( oil ) and turning it into a vapor that the consumer can inhale .
Power button : Most batteries have a power button . Sometimes , you hold it while you inhale to consume vapor . Other times , you press the button , and the atomizer is
Some vape pens have detachable mouthpieces , and others don ’ t , but the mouthpiece is simply where you inhale vapor from the pen .
If reusable , the vape pen works by screwing the battery onto the cartridge . If disposable , then the parts are all inside the device already . When the vape pen is activated , the atomizer heats the cannabis oil in the tank , and you inhale the vapor through the mouthpiece .
A reusable vape pen is what we usually see the most on dispensary shelves , and it consists of a battery and a cartridge . Reusable vape pens are really only half-reusable since you use
