March has arrived , so it ’ s time to ditch the snow
TGIS ! shovels and prepare for spring , as daylight saving time begins on March 9 . Wow , it seems like this year started with neverending cold weather , keeping everyone snuggled up indoors . It ’ s time to kick the cold winter to the curb and celebrate TGIS ( Thank God It ’ s Spring ), starting with St . Paddy ’ s Day parades on the 17th — a sure sign of spring is March Madness fans filling Downtown KC this month . Plus , the spring equinox is March 20 , which means more daylight hours for outdoor fun . Hooray , and TGIS !
Spring is also the time to start planting , so get a jumpstart with Free Seed Day in St . Louis on March 15 . In fact , it ’ s a free-to-the-public weekend of celebration , competition , and community spirit at Free Seed Day and the brand-new Headstash Bowl Mo Luv . This exciting doubleheader event takes place in the heart of St . Louis ’ vibrant South Grand Business District on March 14 and 15 , 2025 . See page 10 for more details .
We may also see long-awaited new Missouri micro-cannabis businesses open this month . The new microbusiness license holders have made significant strides over the last year with opportunities to enhance Missouri ’ s cannabis market by providing consumers with more product choices and locations . These smaller-scale , individually owned businesses not only support local economies but also create new job opportunities and the development of both unique craft cannabis products and the traditional offerings consumers are familiar with . Several microbusinesses are preparing to commence operations in the coming months . Be sure to read Samantha Blum ’ s article on page 16 to learn more about the new cannabis microbusiness .
We also have a very eye-opening article about something called “ Green Labs ,” where local and national law enforcement receive cannabis educational workshops provided by Extract-ED . These workshops began right here in Missouri for local first responders and have now attracted international recognition . Local law enforcement , prosecutors , judges , and law enforcement from around the country attend — even the Highway Division of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police attended the recent February class in St . Louis . These workshops are vital to help educate law enforcement about the business of cannabis and consumption , all to alleviate preconceived stigmas and protect consumers by reducing unnecessary arrests .
