Rally for Dolores by Friends of Dolores , a team effort

PAYING IT FORWARD

It was only a few years ago when cannabis advocacy meant sharing the stories of the harsh realities that were caused by the “ War on Drugs ,” specifically cannabis , with hopes that someday the laws and stigma would change . Stories like those of our longtime journalist Dolores Halbin and many others like hers can be found at Cruel Consequences , https :// cruelconsequences . org / home / missouri .

These stories are , without a doubt , what eventually got Missourians to change their view on cannabis and allow all of us access to cannabis that we currently celebrate . These stories also led Missouri to currently be the fastest-growing cannabis market in the world .
In 2022 , Dolores ( above ) helped bring a Patients Out of Time event to the Midland Theater in Kansas City , MO . Afterwords she attended the event ’ s social gathering when a rainbow appeared signaling a sign from above and bringing her to tears .
Over the nearly past six years of our publication ’ s life , Dolores has continued to have a voice for advocacy not only through her monthly journalistic contributions to The EVOLUTION Magazine but also by continuing to share her story at cannabis legalization events in Kansas all while she is also the collective force ( the “ gas + match ”) that continues to bring those other advocates together reminding them time after time to continue to stand united and speak up for our rights to have access to holistic healing cannabis .
Spending time behind bars not just once , but twice , the second time at age 65 . A friend of hers picked her up from jail the second time in Kansas for a small roach , four gummies , and a nearly empty jar of muscle rub . Dolores needed to go to the grocery store and picked the closest store in Kansas . “ I again had a choice to go home East to Missouri or West on the Kansas Highway ,” said Dolores in her July 2021 issue article “ The Traveling Flat Roach .” The article explains her arrest in Kansas and much more .
Dolores is always ready to help with a hemp harvest .
Recently , she got a surprise notice from her landlord that she must vacate her farmhouse , and the property where she once stood her ground has been sold and will be demolished in April . Dolores , now 70 years old , lives on social security and funds from a part-time job and needs help to afford a new home . We want to help her so she can continue being a voice of cannabis advocacy and reason in a seemingly world of chaos that needs these ancestral cannabis stories passed down now more than ever .
Please help us help Dolores . She has advocated tirelessly to help countless people with Missouri ’ s legalization and is one of the kindest and most giving people we know .
From everyone at The EVOLUTION Magazine and her many friends who started this GoFundMe , we sincerely thank you in advance . Dolores is always there to help others when asked and expects nothing in return — she did not ask for help with this . Her friends saw someone in need and stepped forward to help .
