Veteran Troy Green Finds Bliss Working in the MO Cannabis Industry
It began as new journey in life for Troy Green , a medically retired veteran of more than 27 years in the military started working in October 2023 at Bloom dispensary in Cameron , MO .
Green , a Technical Sergeant ( ret ), served in active-duty Air Force , Missouri Army National Guard , and Missouri Air National Guard for 27 years , eight months , and 26 days .
“ I had worked Corrections , Law Enforcement , and Military for over 27 years ,” said Green . “ At one time , I loved life and that lifestyle . However , after being wounded in Afghanistan in 2012 , things began to change . I struggled with chronic back , hip , and shoulder pain , as well as migraines . The care received from the military and my unit was , to say the least , undesirable .”

Green says , “ The military ’ s answer to the PTSD symptoms , social anxiety , and physical pain was medication from the VA . And as we all know , the right concoction takes time to dial in , so I struggled for several years .”
With Missouri ’ s move to legalization , Green looked to a new career within the industry . “ I made the move to working at Bloom dispensary , wishing for a more relaxed environment , and the fact that I was done with that entire former lifestyle ,” he said . “ Naturally , due to my law enforcement and military careers , I had never used any type of cannabis . However , once hired by Bloom , I asked lots of questions and tried to educate myself . My new colleagues were very helpful in assisting me in selecting a product that would be good for me .”
Since Green started working at Bloom , Elevate Cannabis acquired four of Bloom ’ s Missouri dispensary locations . Green says , “ Now , I look forward to working with the Missouri-based company . Elevate has done several events with veterans , and I plan to volunteer my time with its future events .”
When asked what he ’ s learned about cannabis and how it has benefited him since making his new career move , Green said , “ These

days , I can say I have backed away from pain medications , opting for microdosing and cannabis epidermis patches . This not only helps with my pain but my anxiety as well . I can tell you , going from a guy who loved guns , tactics , and training to being cooped up in my house too anxious to go anywhere , this has all been a godsend .”

Green says he knows several of his veteran buddies have now started using cannabis for PTSD treatment and pain management . “ I would encourage veterans to explore a holistic approach rather than the prescriptions .”
We thank Troy Green for sharing his story and for his service . We welcome veterans who are working in the industry and / or use cannabis to help them to send us their stories . We encourage veterans to explore working within the industry . Like Green , perhaps , “ Bliss ” will follow .
