The vast majority of negative cannabis experiences reported by OCD patients are from edibles . This stands to reason as titration proves challenging because of the delay ( one hour or more ) from ingestion until the effect is felt . Smoking or vaping , on the other hand , takes effect rapidly , making titration straightforward . Of equal if not greater concern is that edibles have the potential of being far more psychoactive for certain people ( and not in a pleasant way ) than smoking and vaping . The GI tract breaks down Delta-9 THC into the metabolite 11-Hydroxy THC . Not everyone handles 11-OH-THC well ( see this author ’ s May 2021 article , “ Why Edibles Aren ’ t for Everybody ”).
Many thousands of OCD patients have found considerable relief from cannabis . That said , it shouldn ’ t be used recklessly , particularly by those with a serious anxiety disorder like OCD . When used moderately and responsibly , cannabis is a powerful medicine that has the potential to produce amazing results .
