“ One would think it would take a psychology degree to manage this many people with such a large generational divide ,” Budd jokingly said .
“ I noticed one critical thing early on — you have to check your ego ,” JT humbly expressed . “ I learned to check your ego at the door thing early on and to treat people how you want to be treated . I know , I don ’ t feel like I ’ m better than anyone else just because I ’ ve worked myself into this position . It has taken a lot of hard work , but I learned early on that — Egos kill plants , Egos run off employees — and it doesn ’ t need to be that way . I ’ ve always been a believer that because plants are living organisms , they can feel the human energy that lives is in the room ,” said JT .
While touring the Flora Farms facility , this ideology is clearly apparent . Each room you walk into is flooded with good music , positive energy , and happy people . This same energy in all the employees gets nurtured right back into the plants , and it all trickles down from upper management .
Employee Appreciation Nights at Murphy ’ s Tavern , “ These nights are truly team-building and so fun . Kind of tugs at my heart , a bit ,” said Karla Deel , Flora Farms Marketing Director . “ I am grateful our bosses see the value in thanking our incredibly hard-working cultivation team !”
Once per month , Flora Farms hosts a themed employee appreciation night at Murphy ’ s Tavern in Humansville ( the second oldest bar in the state ). It ’ s a time for the cultivation team to get together , enjoy free food , drinks , conversations with all the team leaders , and hang out shoulder-to-shoulder with upper management — JT , BUDD , and even the CEO . All this team building and transparency creates this tribe ( team ) culture at the company — where “ death to the Ego ” brings life to the finest medicinal cannabis flowers in the state .
