Editor ’ s note : We asked our newest writer , Dr Green Thumb , to give our readers some insight into his history with cannabis and his plans for his new informational series kicking off with our January 2025 issue . Here is some insight into Dr Green Thumb and his thoughts on his new column .
I
’ m sure you have already figured out that Dr Green Thumb is not my legally born name . In fact , I didn ’ t acquire that name legally until 2008 , when Dr Green Thumb became the name I decided on for my small business . I have been blessed with unique skills , talents , and knowledge as I have grown into adulthood . These blessings have allowed me to help others and build a life I have never even dreamed of . Of all the titles and things I have been called , a writer — a content creator for The EVOLUTION Magazine — was not something I ever expected .
As 2025 gets rolling , I will start to figure out my writing style , what cultivation tips ( and more ) I will educate readers about , and exactly what the heck I am doing . It will be fun for everyone ! Meanwhile , please be kind to me as I find creative ways to engage you in some new and exciting ways with this new platform .
Starting in 2025 , I ’ ll share captivating photos of my flowers , no enhancements , no Photoshop , no AI , just real cannabis cultivation photos ( a couple samples below ), education , and stories . My garden will be on full display as I explain some tips , tricks , strains , breeders , and even equipment . I will bring you stories from the cannabis community that will educate , entertain , and connect you with people who have similar interests in the plant , the culture , and the benefits . I ’ ll offer some exclusive stories from influencers within the industry and legacy markets .
I have worked in various industries through the years , most of which are not related to cannabis at all . The previous industries were not friendly to my choice of medicine and treated it like the federally listed Schedule 1 drug it is . My professional life before 2008 required me to be silent about my consumption and always required a way to pass a urine test or risk unemployment and potentially jail . Cannabis was and has been something that helped me personally in many ways , and so I risked it anyway .
My previous business life required me to solve complex problems very fast in high-stress situations and execute plans with a high degree of accuracy consistently . The job positions required adherence to policy without compromise , and failure to be correct was never an option . My titles were always in leadership , and my crews required a leader who could also develop and deliver new leaders . Although I had huge responsibilities and large employee groups to manage , this flower remained in my life through self-medicating consumption and other various beneficial ways — long before any amount of possession or consumption was legal .
The combination of my life experiences , circumstances , and the knowledge I have acquired are now being applied to educate and entertain while continuing to develop the cannabis-only portion of my life . While my resume is long and my previous titles are gone , I continue to gain skills and seek out knowledge as a legal cultivator in Missouri . I am a caregiver , cultivator , advocate , seed broker , brand ambassador , wholesale manager , and now a contributing writer for The EVOLUTION Magazine . Over the years , I ’ ve also partnered with some of the best-known cannabis seed breeders in the world . I have a huge catalog of breeders and strains from Europe as well as the USA .

Dr Green Thumb grew this RUNTZ STRAIN plant from a Barneys Farm single ( 1 ) seed out of a three-pack of seeds . Zkittlez Strain x Gelato Strain . This Runtz hybrid 50 % Sativa , 50 % Indica strain is the epitome of premium cannabis with sweet , fruity terpenes . He harvested this plant around 72 days of flower time . The clone he produced of this plant grew seven feet tall and harvested 4.5 64oz . mason jars of dried and trimmed flower .
