What Are the Different Combinations of
Cannabinoids in Cannabis Gummies, and How Do They Differ in Effect?
by Leah Maurer, contributing writer
Cannabis-infused gummies have quickly become one of the most popular entry points for new consumers, especially as the market has grown in Missouri. Today, there are a host of various brands available at dispensaries that showcase how modern edibles are no longer just about THC or making you“ high.” The cannabis gummies on the market now feature carefully crafted blends of multiple cannabinoids designed to deliver specific, predictable effects to help consumers with various health-related issues. For new cannabis consumers, or simply new to edibles consumers, understanding these different cannabinoid combinations is key to choosing the right product for your needs and having a safe, enjoyable experience.
At the most basic level, cannabis gummies( like all cannabis products) contain cannabinoids, which are natural compounds found in the cannabis plant that interact with the body’ s endocannabinoid system( ECS). The ECS helps regulate mood, sleep, appetite, and pain, among other bodily functions.
Typically, the four most common cannabinoids found in gummies today are THC, CBD, CBG, and CBN. Each of these cannabinoids produces a different effect. THC( tetrahydrocannabinol) is the primary psychoactive compound responsible for the“ high,” while CBD( cannabidiol) is non-intoxicating and associated with calming, balancing effects. CBG( cannabigerol) is often described as uplifting and focus-enhancing, and CBN( cannabinol) is widely used for relaxation and sleep support.
As with many cannabis products, THC-only gummies are often the most recognizable category. These products are designed primarily for euphoria, relaxation, and other body effects. Quality cannabis brands will produce gummies with consistent, reliable THC dosing, which is important for consumers who are learning how edibles affect them. Some higher-dose products, such as“ mega” gummies, can contain significantly more THC per piece and are intended for experienced users or medical cannabis patients. However, many modern gummies move beyond THC alone to create more balanced experiences.
THC + CBD Ratios

Gummy products like Day Vibes by DŌSD combines ratios of fast-acting( nano) THC, CBG, and American Ginseng to help provide consumers with improved energy, reduce fatigue, and enhance physical performance.
One of the most common combinations you will see in cannabis gummies and other cannabis edibles in general is THC + CBD. These gummies are popular because CBD can help moderate the intensity of THC, reducing anxiety or overstimulation while preserving relaxation and pain relief. This balance makes THC: CBD ratios, such as 1:1, especially appealing for beginners or those new to edibles who want a gentler introduction to cannabis. However, there are also 2:1 ratio gummies. Many brands will emphasize these ratio-based formulations, offering products where cannabinoids are intentionally paired to create a predictable effect profile that may be labeled“ energy,”“ uplift,” or something similar.
THC + CBD + CBG Ratios
Another increasingly popular category of cannabis gummies is the cannabinoid combination of CBD + CBG gummies. These products are typically non-psychoactive and designed for daytime use. CBG interacts with both major cannabinoid receptors and is associated with focus, mood support, and inflammation reduction. When CBG is combined with CBD, the result is often described as a calm and balanced state without sedation or a high. You may also see cannabis gummies or other edibles with a THC + CBD + CBG combination, which would give a similar effect but with a more“ head high” effect that THC often offers. Additionally, some Missouri edibles incorporate CBG into fruit-forward gummies designed to enhance energy or creativity.
CBD + CBN or THC + CBN Ratios
For help with relaxation, sleep, or nighttime use, many consumers turn to CBD + CBN or THC + CBN gummies. CBN is often marketed as a“ sleep” cannabinoid because of its sedative properties. When paired with CBD, it can promote relaxation and help maintain sleep, while small amounts of THC can deepen the body’ s sense of calm. Some formulations even combine all three, THC, CBD, and CBN, to create a layered effect that addresses both mental and physical rest. Emerging research and product development have reinforced the popularity of these sleep-focused
