Out & About in Missouri! The Faces of the Missouri Cannabis Industry

▲ We visited the 816 Dispensary in Platte City just two days before Missouri’ s first micro dispensary opening on June 12. With owner Jimi Poe, front and center, the budtender team of experienced industry agents was preparing to welcome a new era of micro cannabis sales in our state. We encourage you to support these new licensed cannabis microbusiness owners who were disproportionately impacted by the“ War on Drugs,” and purchase redemption stories along with your cannabis. Stay connected with 816 Dispensary on IG @ 816Dispensary.
▲ The Hemp for Victory team of veteran cannabis advocates, including the only living Medal of Honor recipient, Col. Doc Ballard, helped sponsor The National WWI Museum & Memorials’ first educational cannabis event last month called“ Operation: DOPE – A Blunt History of WWI.” See what Doc had to say about the event on page 34, and find out where you can watch the lecture online. ▲ The We Are JAINE group held its breakfast meeting on June 7, following the MoCannTrade quarterly meet-up in Independence, sponsored by two valued business members, Smith Patrick CPA and Kansas City Cannabis. We Are JAINE was formed in 2019 with the foresight that as the Missouri cannabis industry evolved, it would be critical to create a professional network to develop and advance women’ s leadership. We Are JAINE leads the charge for inclusion in cannabis. Learn more at www. wearejaine. com / get-involved.
▲ Prairie Band Ag is a tribally owned Ag business that grows and processes hemp materials on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation in Kansas. We first reported about them in 2023 and the grand opening of their decortication( hemp processing) factory, a first nationally for its size and technological advances. We recently caught up with them as they helped sponsor the recent WWI Museum event( see page 34), where they showcased their new hemp product line called Mnokiwen( meaning“ From the Good Earth”), which produces hemp-based drinking straws and dining utensils to replace plastic. Next month, we will feature their new hemp products endeavor. From left: Nizhoni Woodie, Ag Operations Specialist, with Production Manager Zach Gill.
