Back to making gummies , when I use my Infusium 420 to infuse 750 ml of grain alcohol with two ounces of bud , I end up with 600 ml of finished tincture . The loss is due to evaporation . Each batch of gummies uses 200 ml of tincture . The pot leaf-shaped gummies pictured are probably about 30 to 35 milligrams of THC each , which is purely a guess , but a very educated one . You will have to figure out your own dosages through trial and error , so start slowly with small doses until you figure out how strong your gummies actually are .
After you have completed the decarb and used your infusion machine to make your alcohol tincture , you are ready to make gummies .
Our first step will be to evaporate most of the alcohol from the infused Everclear , turning it into a thick syrupy substance . You can do this in several ways , including putting the tincture into a saucepan and allowing the alcohol to evaporate slowly on its own , which will take a day or two and create a lot of fumes . Make sure to ventilate properly in any of the processes that you choose , including opening windows and turning on an exhaust fan . Evaporating alcohol can make your house smell like you are making moonshine .
If you want to get it over quicker , you can evaporate the alcohol on the stove . The safer , slower way is to do it in a double boiler . The quicker way , which I prefer ( Warning ), could be potentially dangerous . 1 . You simply cook off the alcohol at low heat , and I emphasize that you use low , low heat . Using a ( 2-quart ) saucepan , stir your tincture constantly with a silicone spatula .
2 . If it starts to come to a full boil , remove it from the heat and lower the temp before continuing .
3 . ( Warning ) If you get it too hot , it will reach flashpoint and catch fire .
4 . Not to worry , you can quickly extinguish the flames by putting the lid on your pan to smother the fire , much like a server does with the flaming brandy when serving Cherries Jubilee . Still , be careful not to do it , as you can see demonstrated on my YouTube channel , Bobo ’ s Botanicals . You will find videos showing how to make gummies and tincture and a demonstration on how to put out a kitchen fire . LOL .
After you have your syrup , we are in the home stretch . Simply pour the following ingredients into the saucepan . These will go on top of the 200 ml of the evaporated tincture , which is now syrup ( and is probably stuck to the bottom of your pan ). Make sure not to evaporate everything . Any excess alcohol will cook off when we make our gummies .
● One six-ounce box of flavored gelatin ( I recommend using green or blue and a strong flavor .)
● Two packets unflavored gelatin
( 1 / 4 ounce each , ½ ounce total )
● Five Tlbs . drink mix ― this is used as a flavor enhancer ; I prefer Country Time Lemonade
● 3 / 4 cup water ( add water last )
At first , it will seem like you don ’ t have enough water , but as you heat and stir , the powder will disappear . Bring the mixture to a full boil and stir constantly , using the silicone spatula to get all the THC syrup off the bottom of the pan . As you stir , you will see small brown chunks , which is our weed . We want to boil and stir until the chunks are gone . Sometimes I use a whisk , but sometimes the spatula works just fine . Once you have finished mixing everything together , which usually takes around five minutes , remove the pan from the stove .
At this point , you should already have your molds arranged on a cookie sheet . While being very careful not to burn yourself with scalding liquid , use an eyedropper to measure out each gummy equally . The Infusium 420 came with a dropper , but you may have to buy one along with some molds . I bought my leaf molds on Amazon , and I really like them . After the molds are filled , place the tray in the refrigerator . After an hour , the gummies can come out of the molds .
You can eat them now , but to finish them off well , let them dry out ( refrigerated ) for 48 hours .
● Place them in the refrigerator on a plate or cutting board for 24 hours , then flip them over to let the other side dry out for 24 hours .
● Now coat the candies with granulated sugar to prevent them from sticking together .
● Put them in a baggie or storage container , and they will travel as well as any candy of this type .
Careful , the gummies will melt in a hot car , but if kept refrigerated , they will last a couple of months . I have never had any around long enough to go bad . Friends and relatives grab up any I don ’ t eat ( when gifted ).
