▲ On May 20 , nearly 200 skateboarders and people from all walks of life gathered at Columbus Park ’ s Harrison Street DIY Skate Park for Shred for the Cure — a spin off event for the nonprofit Head for the Cure . Over $ 12,000 was raised for Head for the Cure by Timeless Refinery ( Tim Gutschenritter of Timeless on far left ) and Good Day Farms to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients , their families , friends , caregivers , and other supporters , while celebrating their courage , spirit , and energy . Skateboarder DJ Stewart , a four-year glioblastoma survivor and the Outreach Coordinator for Head for the Cure is pictured here holding the big check . More similar events coming soon . For Jackie Nguyen , owner of Cafe Cà Phê and event coordinator , the festival is about creating space for Asian and Pacific Islander people in Kansas City . She calls it “ A love letter to the Kansas City AAPI community .”
