“ Now that legalization is here , companies have built successful businesses in Missouri , while minority populations have been shut out of the industry . It ’ s double the injustice ,” said Dr . Brittany Conners with St . Louis University . “ In response to the glaring inequities in the cannabis industry , PC will be using a portion of its profits to help ensure minority communities have fair access to the cannabis industry .”
“ As a minority-owned business , social equity and economic empowerment are in our DNA ,” said Mohamed Yusuf . “ Pressure Co . will be helping communities in our state that have been most affected by the failures of the war on drugs and help minorities develop and master the skills to compete and succeed in the fastest growing industry in the United States .”
Once a student is accepted into the Equity-Now program , the organization will document and follow the student ’ s journey through the completion of the program . Equity-Now will then work with cannabis companies in Missouri to identify job placement opportunities to ensure scholarship recipients achieve fair access to industry opportunities .
