Kansas City Cannabis ( KCC ), one of the few 100 % Missouri-owned and operated medical and adultuse marijuana dispensaries , will open its new and larger Blue Springs location at Hwy 7 and I-70 this January .
KCC ’ s former Blue Springs dispensary at 1713 NW Burdett Crossing , just north of the new location , will remain open during the transition to the new location at 1117 N 7 Hwy , formerly a Bob Evans restaurant ( near Quick Trip and Westlake Hardware ).
KCC was founded in the fall of 2018 by a passionate group of advocates determined to redefine the cannabis dispensary experience . Today , the company owns and operates four dispensaries : Blue Springs , Excelsior Springs , Lake Lotawana , and Kearney . Its highly trained , knowledgeable , and friendly budtender staff will help guide you through the newest products to achieve your desired health and wellness goals . In fact , in February 2023 , Cannabis Business Times ( an industry trade magazine ) honored Kansas City Cannabis Company as a 2023 Best Cannabis Companies to Work For Dispensary Award . The company currently employs over 80 people , and with the opening of the new location and plans for fifth location the company could employ well over 100 in near the future .
one big advantage is — we now have a drive-thru lane at the new store . That service is a great convenience for many . A lot of our customers and patients have mobility issues that make it hard for them to physically get into the store . We ’ ve heard a lot of feedback asking for a drive-thru or curbside service ; now we ’ re happy to say we offer that convenient service .”

“ We were honored with the award ,” said Dan Nelson , CEO and co-founder . “ We are only as good as the people we surround ourselves with , and Kansas City Cannabis Company is one of the best dispensary teams in Missouri . Our employees are what makes this such a special place .”
Although the original Blue Spring location is flourishing , Nelson and Chief of Staff Corey Martin explain the motivation to move a few blocks south to the new location .
“ We wanted to have a more visible location ,” says Martin . “ We ’ ve been at the current location for two years and still hear from local people that they didn ’ t know we were back behind the Walgreens at Hwy 7 and Duncan Road . So , being able to occupy a building that is highly visible at the intersection of 7 Hwy and directly off I-70 is a huge increase in visibility for us . Plus , parking and traffic accessibility are much better at the new location . Additionally ,

The former property tenant , a Bob Evans family restaurant operated from 1997 to 2020 . The property sat vacant for nearly three years and was becoming an eyesore for the community . Nelson met often with the real estate company to see if they were even willing to lease the space to a cannabis company . “ We were interested in a location with more visibility and growth opportunities ,” said Nelson . “ We felt the location was a hidden gem , and now , with the public being more open to cannabis , it presented an opportunity to grow our business .”
