Looking back, Sommer admits that most people would have given up. Instead, they kept building, step by step and task by task. Today, their persistence is evident throughout the facility.
Cultivation, Thoughtfully Controlled
Strainworx now has over 500 plants at various stages across the facility. The plants are grown in coco, fed with Athena nutrients, and managed by an Allen-Bradley PLC system that controls the environment and fertigation schedules.
Early Days, Real Impact
Like many Missouri microbusinesses, Strainworx has found unexpected strength in community. People share advice, offer tours, and support each other. There is competition, but it comes with a real wish to see others do well.
Looking ahead, the team plans to add two more flowering rooms, with one focused on research and development. For them, longterm success isn’ t just about size. It’ s about making a difference and knowing that what they grow helps someone else find relief.

Automation helps the team respond quickly and accurately to the plants’ needs. They track, adjust, and refine details such as watering volume, nutrient ratios, and environmental conditions. In the future, they plan to store detailed data on each plant, including environmental conditions, terpene profiles, THC levels, and yield, to build a knowledge base to inform future decisions
The goal isn’ t to take people out of the process. It’ s to make sure their care is protected.
What’ s in Rotation
Strains currently in rotation include Mimosa, Dreamsicle Cupcakes, and Pineapple Crème Anglaise, with more already underway.
The first flower products available are Cthulhu and ZeroTol. The brand is designed to be clean and simple, focusing on trust instead of flashiness. Each product is finished at peak freshness, carefully inspected, and packaged to arrive just as intended.
The Strainworx logo shows this same balance. It features a simple chemical structure of THC, which nods to the science of the plant and the complexity that comes with careful cultivation.
