technician on it , Nycko ’ s restaurant experience assisted him in being comfortable talking to and relating to anybody . That quality has been catalytic for Hunt in succeeding on the cannabis scene .
“ Our team and partners are extremely diverse and come from all walks of life . Unifying those individuals toward a common goal takes someone with empathy , compassion , and the ability to inspire , but also to get out of the way and let your team be great ,” says Hunt . “ I believe I utilize each of those skills daily to best enable my team to be the best they can be . Because of that , we ’ ve increased our production exponentially and maintain pride in providing what we believe to be the best products on the market .”
When it comes to cannabis , Hunt believes that “ the sky is truly the limit . Not just for Missouri , but for other states across the U . S . passing legislation for cannabis .”
“ I joked often in high school that I was going to drop out and sell weed . I never thought I ’ d be in the industry until I had a few friends leave to go west to work in cannabis ,” Hunt reminisces . “ I was unable to relocate then , but I always told myself I ’ d take a shot in the industry if it ever came to Missouri .”
The father-of-four has been interviewing many prospective cannabis employees and has simple but efficient advice for those looking to get in the door . “ Don ’ t interview like it ’ s a weed job ; treat it like it ’ s your dream job ,” Hunt advised . “ Be on time , courteous , professional , and for the love of Taylor Swift and all her fans , don ’ t ask about the discount first .
What about after they ’ re in the industry ?
“ Network , network , network . You never know who knows who . After that , be prepared to show your worth . I see a ton of newer cannabis industry employees who think they ’ ve struck gold once they ’ ve been hired , but our work is no different from any other job . You get recognized by repeated excellence and earning the trust of your team around you .”
If you are stuck in a job you don ’ t love with a future you don ’ t yearn for , look no further than Nicholas “ Nycko ” Hunt as the inspiration you need to take that leap of faith !
