directly created and enabled by social media platforms. For instance, Meta created Facebook and Instagram AI bots for living celebrities, dead famous people and others. Meta also allows Instagram users to create AI versions of themselves to interact with their followers( seemingly to save them from having to waste their time doing so).
“ These programs aren’ t temporary extremes. They’ re core to social media’ s future. Meta has even told The Financial Times that it envisages social media filled with AI-generated users.” 1
Many real human beings, who were former users, are now exploring alternative platforms that prioritize personal connections over prioritized commercialization, derogatory political content, or unauthenticated AI Bots.
AI bots have yet to take over them, and your eyes will thank you for the break from staring at the screen on your phone or computer all day. People still want that touchy-feely feel of print, and independent publications don’ t have to adhere to the political turmoil oversight like social media.
Almost just as important as where you get your information from these days and how you connect with friends and family is where you get your music. AI bots are not only taking over social media, but they are also taking over DSPs( Direct Streaming Platforms). Spotify recently removed over 75 million spam tracks to combat issues such as unauthorized voice clones, fake streams, and other low-quality or fraudulent content that impersonates artists. However, it still allows AI-created music. Most, if not all, DSP music platforms do not regulate AI music even when they are recreating or impersonating another musician’ s Copyrighted Intellectual Property. Since the artists get paid per stream, real artists are splitting those profits with impersonating AI bots, which has become a major issue on all DSPs.
Don’ t be this guy Instead enjoy real, personal conversations
Let’ s leave the bots behind this holiday season and be more mindful of how we choose to connect as a cannabis community, with our family, and with our friends. Let’ s build each other up with love, instead of letting our social media platforms divide us. Roll one up, put a record on, and choose to love each other through face-to-face conversations. Your support for this independent publication is greatly appreciated!
Wishing you a very authentic Merry Christmas!
I was recently introduced to one of those apps by Stephanie Gotsch, the director of sales for Amaze Cannabis and Green Releaf Dispensaries. The app is called Happyfeed, and it encourages users to practice daily gratitude while allowing them to share their gratitude with groups of friends. Finally, there is an app that encourages users to express their daily personal growth while sharing that positivity with groups of friends. It has been a breath of fresh air amidst the constant division, distrust, and demeaning content that runs the roost of our former social media giants.
Another way you can avoid the current endangerments to your mental health caused by doom scrolling through the sludge of social media is by supporting local print publications. Thankfully,
