Our readers often send us stories about how thrilled they are to legally home-grow and plant photos showing off their first-time successes growing plants . Our staff has discussed adding this page for readers to send us photos and brief stories showing off their home grows and perhaps growing tips to help others . After receiving the following story and photos from an avid reader , we decided it was time to launch the page . For the sake of anonymity , her name will be Sally .
Sally says , “ I ’ m a 32-year-old lady from a small town in North Missouri . I learned cannabis cultivation working at a local grow . I was one of the five people first hired to help get the business started . It was the best experience of my life in teaching me all about cannabis .
“ For my very first attempt at growing , I used a rich black soil that plants become super plants or , as my neighbor ’ s three-year-old grandson calls them , Hulk Plants ! I started four seeds , but only one survived , and she has turned out Amazing ! The seeds came from a bag I got that was a Kush strain . So I call this “ Hulk ” plant Speedy Kush . I germinated at the end of May and transplanted June 3rd . By the time we got to 13 hours of daylight , she started flowering . I didn ’ t use anything [ chemicals ] on her . I planted herbs and other pest-resistant plants around that kept her bug-free . I also used coffee grounds before flowering for the worms and placed a cantaloupe melon by it to decompose and add some flavor . I plan to harvest it the week of October 30 . This was my first time growing , and next year , I plan on growing more and having several different plants outdoors . I will keep everybody posted .”
Sally ’ s photos shown here were all taken on October 17 , pre-harvest . We think she did an amazing job with her first cultivation attempt and look forward to seeing more of her “ Hulk ” plants next season .
