If you’ re new to the cannabis experience, you may wonder— what the heck is 420 all about? Apparently, in the‘ 70s, a group of California high school students would meet every day at a secret spot at precisely 4:20 p. m. to smoke marijuana. Their code for this daily gathering became 420. Ultimately, 4:20 p. m. became 4 / 20 for calendar purposes, creating a day of celebration for marijuana enthusiasts everywhere. The true origin of this day remains a mystery. Nevertheless, since the late 1970s, 4 / 20 has been a day( or two or three days) to celebrate and party.
If you like to party, April is the month for you, so start preparing for the 420 festivities around the state. Most dispensaries will host some form of 420 celebration— specials, discounts, live entertainment, and swag to take home. Not all events will be on April 20; some will be spread out between the 15th and the 22nd to give partygoers plenty of time to attend as many events as possible. Be sure to check out the 420 special offers and events within these pages, and of course, check with your local dispensary.
