Kansas City, you’ re officially invited to celebrate 420 the Missouri microbusiness way: up close, in the community, and with the people behind the plant right there with you. We can’ t wait to connect. Honestly, we’ re excited to spark up, snack, laugh, and hang out, the way 420 should feel.
A Quick Note on microbusiness rule changes and why I’ m waiting until next month to cover it.
Before we jump into the 420 fun, here’ s a quick update on something I promised to cover: the proposed rule changes for microbusinesses. These changes are currently under review by JCAR( the legislative committee), which is gathering testimony and deliberating. Because the rules aren’ t finalized yet, I’ m holding off on a deep dive to avoid spreading incomplete information. Once the rules are confirmed, I’ ll break down what happened, what was proposed, and what they mean for all of us now. For now, just know things are in progress, and I’ ll update you as soon as there’ s factual news.
Now that’ s covered, let’ s check out what’ s happening where you can actually show up, smell the terps, and feel the vibe instead of just reading about it.
The Event: The Ultimate 4 / 20 Smoke Sesh
On Saturday, April 18, from 4 to 8 p. m., join the fun at the Ultimate 4 / 20 Smoke Sesh at 816 Dispensary in Platte City. Celebrate with KC’ s micro-community, meet the people behind the flower, and enjoy a relaxed, authentic event. This is a true consumption lounge night. This event is for ages 21 and up. No alcohol will be sold or served. Settle in, light up, and enjoy the moment.
What I like most is the intention behind this event. 816 Dispensary is creating a space where micro wholesalers are more than just names on a menu. You can meet the operators, ask questions, hear their stories, and connect in person. This is the energy our microbusiness community needs. It’ s about building culture, not just making sales.
The Details:
Tickets for the on-site consumption area are limited to 250 guests and required for entry. Pre-order for $ 40 until April 17 or pay $ 45 at the door. Each ticket includes lounge access, a 1g pre-roll, food and drink from Twisted Taters, and a $ 5 raffle entry, everything you need for a great night. Per-order tickets in person at 816 Dispensary.
Arrive at 816 Dispensary, 2701 Running Horse Rd., Platte City, MO. Check in, collect your wristband, pre-roll, and any products, then head next door to Tanner’ s for the lounge. Shop first, then enjoy the event. This part matters because it keeps the night running smoothly.

Inside the lounge, you’ ll find something people often want but rarely get— access. There will be deals, but also real conversation. The wholesalers will be there in person, not just as posters or marketing blurbs. You can meet the operators, ask questions, hear their stories, and truly connect. And here’ s what I really mean— you can ask the fun questions and the nerdy questions.
