ADHD and

Cannabis

Cannabis and ADHD
The use of cannabis in treating children remains controversial over concerns that THC could adversely affect developing brains. However, the only studies that confirm such concerns involve cases where THC has been misused. These concerns diminish in significance where THC is consumed in the very small therapeutic doses typically needed to treat children and adolescents. To say that the medical establishment is genuinely sincere about the potential impact of THC on developing brains while expressing no such concerns for administering mind-altering pharmaceutical drugs to children is nothing less than an unmitigated display of medical mendacity and hypocrisy.
A great many young adults diagnosed with ADHD report using cannabis to treat symptoms. This was confirmed in“ I Use Weed for My ADHD: A Qualitative Analysis of Online Forum Discussions on Cannabis Use and ADHD.” 3 According to the analysis, out of the hundreds of posts,“ Twenty-five( 25 %) percent of individual posts indicated that cannabis is therapeutic for ADHD.” Individuals with a predominantly hyperactive-impulsive subtype are most likely to see improvements.
THC, CBD, and Dosing
Several rodent studies have shown promise for CBD in treating ADHD, but the jury is still out where it concerns humans. The nice thing about CBD is there is little risk where it concerns children, even if a child is already on an ADHD pharmaceutical( though you should always consult the child’ s physician first). A parent could try CBD with their child and see if there’ s improvement. ADHD patients have reported that it can help calm the jitters often associated with ADHD drugs. An even more effective result in treating ADHD can come from equal parts CBD to THC.
When treating children, a dose of 2.5mg is often adequate. Adults may require 10mg. Both children and adults will likely find edibles the most effective and convenient since they are the longest-lasting.
