Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting
Cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy often experience severe nausea and vomiting. Medical cannabis, particularly THC-rich products, has been used to alleviate these debilitating side effects. Nabilone, a synthetic cannabinoid, is prescribed to adults to help relieve these symptoms when other treatments have not been effective. However, cancer patients have seen great benefits from consuming cannabis in the form of sublinguals, tinctures, and, depending on the patient’ s overall health, even smoking.
Anxiety and Depression
Mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression are increasingly common reasons that consumers seek out medical cannabis. A national survey revealed that nearly half of the respondents used cannabis to manage anxiety, with a substantial number also addressing symptoms of depression. However, it is important to note that while some patients report relief, others may experience exacerbation of symptoms. Research into the efficacy and safety of cannabis regarding mental health is ongoing.
Insomnia
Sleep disturbances, including insomnia, have led many to explore medical cannabis as a remedy. For those who have used other prescriptions or over-the-counter medications as sleep aids, cannabis is often a nice alternative with fewer side effects. Cannabis edibles with both THC and CBN have been found particularly helpful for restful sleep by many consumers. While cannabis can help with insomnia, its effectiveness depends on the strain, dosage, and individual response. It may take some experimental trials to find the correct strain and dosage for you. www. naturemedmo. com
Medical cannabis has emerged as a therapeutic option for several conditions, and policy changes continue to expand opportunities for using it for treatment. As research progresses and societal perceptions( stigmas) shift, the therapeutic applications of medical cannabis are becoming more recognized. In Missouri, we are lucky to have access regardless of being a medical card holder or patient and to be able to consider cannabis as we navigate our own healthcare or the healthcare of others we care for in our lives.
