having to manoeuvre yourself out of a
small, low car can strain your back.
SUV and cross-over type vehicles are ideal.
They are higher off the ground, and often
have a more compliant ride (especially
if you avoid the larger wheel sizes – an
18 inch wheel looks great, but you don’t
get enough rubber to cushion the ride).
There is more room so the pedals and
steering wheel are positioned so you are
not sitting in a contorted position. The
seats are generally good quality, and more
adjustable so you are more likely to be
able to set the seat up in a position that
is just right for your size and shape. Not
all SUVs are gas guzzlers. It is surprisingly
to now find an extremely economical
SUV or crossover type vehicle, if you are
wanting to look after the environment as
well as your back.
