Essential Feature Beaver Visit to Stockley Farm We had a fantastic, sunny day out at Stockley Farm starting with an exciting tractor and trailer ride from the car park to the farm. to jump in, to bury yourself . . . just like on the beach at the seaside. Beavers and other children were given the chance to hold a bird of prey whilst he was talking about them. Top ups of Vimto, fruit pastilles and a choc bar kept the energy levels up as we looked at the animals before going back to the play field to try all the different equipment out. A card was signed and with the Group’s 65th birthday badge, it was presented by the Beavers to Stockley Farm. A last chance to milk the cow, an ice lolly then it was time to board the trailer for a ride back to the car park. The Beavers were a credit to themselves, their parents and the Scout Group. A few minutes later and we were off on the nature trail with a very enthusiastic Richard talking about the different habitats, including the man made ones like the fields and the ditch along with natures own. Holes in trees were examined for woodpecker’s nests, rabbit burrows investigated and lots of different bugs and slugs found along the woodland path. And from me a big thank you to the parents for coming out today and helping to give the Beavers so much fun. Then through the building holding the larger animals to the feeding shed: where we had the opportunity to help bottle feed the young lambs. Milking the cow, (a model) proved to be a great draw and frequent returns were made to her! The play barn was brilliant with an inflatable slide, a huge sand pit and a straw pit 26 Nine issues in Culcheth Lymm Great Sankey & Penketh Chapelford Stockton Heath & Appleton Thewlwall, Grappenhall & Latchford Birchwood Lowton & Golborne Newton-le-Willows
