FOREWORD
DPD International Pte Ltd has its root in DP Design an interior design outfit formed in 1982 . At the time of its formation the
principals were either qualified architects or persons with professional qualification in interior design. It had a strong
operational base founded on principles embodying a holistic approach to its design philosophy which encompasses not only
fulfilling the requirement of a project but also a wider environmental, social and cultural realm.
The projects undertaken exhibit strong elements of people centricity, fusion of past and present traditions, creation of
ambience that evoke sensory and emotional responses to all users. The synthesis of these multifarious elements have
resulted in many outstanding projects such as the Esplanade Theatres by the Bay, the Shanghai Expo and Suzhou Performing
Arts Centre to name a few. What is more outstanding is that these designs were undertaken without any prior experience or
track record of the firm. We are proud that our clients confidence in our ability to handle them have produced outstanding
results.
We have undertaken numerous projects in various parts of the world notably in China, Indonesia, India, Dubai, Myanmar and
Vietnam. Prior to commencement of the design process in depth studies were made on the historical, cultural and lifestyle
of these countries. The interpretation of these in a contemporary context gave each design their uniqueness that reflects
their time and place.
DPD International was established as a result of the re-structuring of DP Design. Its principals who had been founder
members and directors of the latter have been involved in all its projects and will continue to apply the same spirit and
commitment they have helped to formulate. The projects illustrated in this book are all they have personally been involved
in.
