Inclusively Course Series
Research studies have shown that “ the academic achievement of ethnically diverse students will improve when they are taught through their own cultural and experiential filters .”* NWTC ’ s Inclusively Course Series — Living Inclusively , Teaching Inclusively , Serving Inclusively , and Managing Inclusively ( LITISIMI ) — are sessions designed to provide employees with tools that we can use to create that inclusive environment and increase student learning .

Living Inclusively : The purpose is to develop the knowledge , skills , process , and understanding of culture and how it relates to personal and societal history , social perception and influence , personal values , beliefs , biases , societal structure , local and global societies , cultural practices , and functions and trends . All employees are required to take this course .
Teaching Inclusively : The purpose is to develop materials and strategies for ensuring that their classrooms are inclusive and engage all students , especially students of color . All benefit eligible faculty are required to take this course .
Serving Inclusively : The purpose is to develop policies and skills for ensuring that the campus environment is inclusive and engages all . All benefit eligible staff are required to take this course .
Managing Inclusively : The purpose is to continue building upon the understanding of equity and inclusion and to begin applying this knowledge within a supervisor / leader role . Key components of the curriculum include leading a multicultural environment ; developing strategies for managing conflict ; demographic data ; student / alumni feedback ; identity and bias ; highlights from Teaching Inclusively and Serving Inclusively ; and a capstone .
Introduction to Diversity - 3 Credit Class
This course studies basic American values of justice and equality by teaching vocabulary , history of immigration / conquest , transcultural communication , legal liability , multicultural majority / minority relations , ageism , sexism , gender , sexual orientation , and the disabled / ADA .
