Kimi Knight Kimi is not only a talented photographer, harnessing the emotion and love people have with their horses in images which tell a story but she is an avid show jumper in her own right. We caught up with her to find out more about her love for horses and photography. Who are your current team of horses? Louis Lamont – Hanoverian Khaptivate – Young TB Tell us abit about your horsey lifestyle: I am an amateur show jumping rider who fits in riding between full time work at Country TV and photography! When did you get into photography? A few years ago, I just really wanted a camera so saved to buy my first Canon 550d with a kit lens. I had done digital design at school but knew nothing about photography - just that I wanted to do it! What do you love most about it? Capturing moments that you can look back on and remembering how you felt at that exact moment in time . And sharing with people the way I see them through the lens. someone and their horse, having photos done with families and pets are so important you never know whats going to happen so its always lovely to have something to treasure. If someone has an older horse or is selling them on then Equine Portraits are such a nice way to keep memories. I’ve had a time where a friend and I had taken some portraits for fun and the next year her horse unfortunately passed away so it was really nice to have those for her. What do you look for? During sessions I try to capture a range of images, some posed and some completely off guard and these are usually the best ones. Capturing you in the moment just enjoying being with your horse. Whats the hardest part? Ears forward shots!
