and back, where they had provided trackside backup for no less than eleven customers using their engines, with not a single engine problem to deal with, other than minor adjustments. The result is that they came home with the satisfaction that most of their customers scored high rankings, with many taking first and second in class in the six two-hour RAC Woodcote Trophy and Stirling Moss Trophy races.
In fact, one of their more recent customers, Mark Shaw, might not have made it to the race in the first place if it hadn’ t been for DWR’ s stirling effort to repair the 1500 oentry limax FF unit in his Lotus 21, just two days before leaving for the event.
Other well-known names using DWR-built engines are Keith Ahlers, Billy Bellinger and Ben Adams – past and current Stirling Moss Trophy championship winners – with their Mk 1 Lolas, while DWR has also built the engine for the Derby Bentley owned by the ex-Chairman of Rolls Royce, as well as the la k owned by the former prime minister of Belgium. Perhaps the ultimate accolade, though, is that DWR also built a custom gearbox for the 161 otus lite belonging to the of McLaren Cars.
Indeed, largely due to Julian’ s initiative, DWR is now almost as well known for its work on gearboxes and
differentials. As well as supplying, repairing and conerting 3 synchro A gearboxes to suit the likes of Lotus XI, Lotus Elite and Elva, they also rebuild and supply priteidget differentials which suit a number of historic race car applications including the Lotus Elite.
These are completely reconditioned using the finest quality parts and W can also supply the elusie 5125 final drive ratio in a complete diff. Bridging the gap between and 53 ratios, this ratio is perfect for the shorter European circuits. All carefully engineered, with the correct backlash, bearing preload, blue bed and lapped gear mesh, these reconditioned diffs come complete with new bearings and seals, brand-new manufactured crown wheel and pinion and diff carrier. DWR can also supply a limited-slip diff, if permitted by the regulations.
DWR also currently stocks straightcut closeratio 3 synchro gear sets which are manufactured to their own race-proven design, to reduce frictional losses for better power transmission to the wheels and excellent reliability, with new small batch runs released every quarter.
Not content with just building engines and drivetrain to a high standard, DWR can also offer a wide range of post-installation support,

Using a wide network of contacts they are confidently able to procure or commission the manufacture of almost any parts needed for a classic racing car.
As David says‘ Whether you are lost finding an Alan mith F5000 cross over injection system or a pair of sandcast Weber 58 sidedraught carburettors we are happy to aid you with the supply’. Needless to say, his offer of a detailed diagnostic service for engine failures is only necessary in the case of third-party engine builds … Z
