P... four in the Austin 7, Julian’ s first engine build at the age of 13 was
a 302 cubic inch Ford V8 At 18 he completed a Rolls Royce Aerospace Modern Apprenticeship and undertook a Motorsport degree course at Derby, although by this time there wasn’ t much more that he needed to learn.

Having also developed a considerable skill with rebuilding gearboxes and diffs Julian has further expanded the capabilities of the company and is currently in the process of taking over the family business to continue his father’ s legacy. The DWR workshops is well equipped, with a wide array of machinery in-house, so that they are able to carry out most mainstream engine machining services to a high standard of engineering practice. They can readily cope with all the standard procedures for cylinder head porting and gas owing installing, refacing and cutting replacement ale seats installing and lining ale guides, ycutting of head faces and
cylinder blocks, cylinder boring, cylinder liner fitting and honing, and tappet shim grinding.
There are few machining operations that they out source, although the final engine setting-up and power testing of all DWR engines is carried out on the uperow yno at ngine ata Analysis in Castleford, West Yorkshire. You can find quite a few ideos of W engines being dyno tested, on YouTube.
The combination of father and son’ s experience and passion for racing has seen them build a wide range of FIA specification racing engines While they have developed a particular reputation for specialising in Coventry Climax FPF, FWA, FWB, FWE and FWMV units, they have also been involved with a much wider variety of engines including Ford precrossow, V8s( 260 upwards), crossow, A, FVA, FV and otus twin-cam.
