FER CONFERENCE AND AGM
The Federation of Engine Re-manufacturers( FER) 2019 Conference, AGM and Dinner took place at the Chateau Impney Hotel in Droitwich, Worcestershire on Saturday October 12.
The Conference, sponsored by Impression Communications, was introduced by the FER’ s Operations Manager, Owen Laurenson, and included presentations from speakers Grace Fletcher from Ajusa, Joel Combes of Lawgistics, Mark Field of Impression Communications, Road Transport Consultant Engineer Douglas Wragg and Dr. Winifred L. Ijomah of the Scottish Institute for Remanufacturing.
Assembling in the Elizabethan Suite in the grounds of the hotel, the conference room also saw Owen Laurenson’ s Ford Mustang on display, along with a table top display of products from Westwood Cylinder Liners and Duncan Andrews’ s 3.9-litre 2006 Porsche Cayman race car, while Grace Fletcher the General Manager of Ajusa UK also presented an array of promotional material, and gave each delegate the gift of a bottle of wine.
Opening the presentations, Grace explained how the Ajusa range provides a detailed system of product identification and technical information through its labelling, as well as many videos of product installation guides. Joel Combes of Lawgistics outlined the range of legal services available to FER members and presented details of the HR Manager system for staff management and assessment.
Mark Field, the Director of Impressions Communications, outlined the various avenues for publicity on behalf of the FER, while Douglas Wragg – who some readers may know from his‘ Consultants Corner’ articles previously published in The Engine Rebuilder – presented some interesting case histories from his work as a Road Transport Consultant Engineer.
Last but not least, Dr. Winifred L. Ijomah of the Scottish Institute for Remanufacturing presented an extensive review of initiatives being taken to promote the importance of remanufacturing, in the interests of commercial resources and environmental considerations.
The conference also included the formal business of the Annual General Meeting of the FER, with approval of minutes of the 2018 AGM, President’ s and Treasurer’ s reports and election of board members for 2020. Other extensive discussions included various initiatives for membership recruitment and retention as well as consideration of a future trade event. Full details of the proceedings of the AGM will of course be available to all FER members in due course.
As a thank you to all members for their continued support of the FER, attendance at the 2019 conference was offered free of charge to FER members and their guests, concluding with a dinner and disco into the evening, with many taking the opportunity of discounted rates to stay o�ernight at the hotel��
