Consequences and How to help

The consequences of losing the gorillas might not be evident and does not affect us right now, but the long term effect would be the overgrowth of plants. The plants might be poisonous and cause harm to other animals.

We can help by raising awareness towards this type of gorillas. This subspecies is not as well known as the others. This can cause the gorillas to be unknown.

The Cross River Gorillas are now critically endangered because of deforestation causing the habitat loss.

There are many laws being enforced, to stop poaching. Guards are placed around the forest, in attempt to stop the poachers once and for all.

Although there is enforcement of the wildlife laws, it not as strict. Any amount of deaths to the cross-river gorillad could affect the population since there are very few left, and even just one death will be a significant change.

How are organizations helping?

In the past 10 years WWF has been working with logging companies to create a more sustainable habitat for the gorillas.

These efforts toward saving the gorillas ensure the logging companies are sensitive towards protecting the wildlife, and not disturbing any animals living there.
