Editor-in-chief Dolly Nguyen explores the
new voice of Australian writers in the first
The Emerging Writer. In our debut issue,
we look at a story that delves behind the
veneer of the modern Australian woman.
Hola!
Salut!
Hej!
Chào!
whether it be a starting point to pursuing a career in
writing or as a new avenue for creativity. This is
your chance to really push the boundaries of your
work and I look forward to reading these stories in
future issues.
This first issue focuses on uncovering the stories
behind the Australian woman. This issue features a
short story written by myself which explores the
depths of loss in a woman that is hidden by fear and
inequality in her relationship. I suppose it’s
appropriate to encouraging new writers to be
fearless by first exposing my own vulnerabilities. A
fair enough trade, I would say.
Salamat!
Habari and Hello! Welcome to the first ever issue of
The Emerging Writer, an Australian literary
magazine by new writers, for new writers. It is an
exciting time for Australian literature, with the
people that make up this rich cultural landscape
constantly changing and bringing with them a
multitude of stories. What a better way to start
than to offer a heartfelt welcome to these emergent
voices in the languages of home as we usher in a
new era of literature together.
The Emerging Writer is a free online magazine that
aims to showcase the abundant talent out there
amongst the unheard voices of Australia. There is
no limit in age, form or content. All writers are
encouraged to contribute to this growing magazine;
Until next time, keep writing.
