The defining moment when I became empowered was when I completed and obtained my Master of Business Administration and was able to focus on a new adventure. I completed my MBA in 2016 and began getting involved in local activism the following year. I have become involved in several issues that are important to me and my community. During this time, I have really become to embrace my identity and realize that my positioning is beneficial to the immigrant/Latino population. I have always been aware of my identity but never really knew how to use it to my advantage.

Has Kappa Delta Chi had any role in amplifying what makes you feel powerful? Please Describe.  Kappa Delta Chi has always played a role in my life in amplifying a sense of power from providing leadership positions at the undergraduate and alumnae levels, providing workshop presenter opportunities in local and national conferences, providing advising opportunities with undergraduate chapters and participating in committees in making positive changes to the sorority.

What could we do better to amplify what makes you feel powerful?  Kappa Delta Chi can recognize alumnae and undergraduates that are making achievements in education and in their careers to highlight their skills, strengths and capabilities that can be shared with the sorority and community. I can only feel powerful if I am able to utilize my strengths to help others out.

What advice do you have for sisters who are exploring their identity/purpose/what makes them feel powerful? My advice for sisters is to create a vision board annually to determine the areas of focus for that year. Educate yourself and do your own research on matters/issues that are important to her. Get involved with the community and participate in organizations that align with goals from your vision board. Take your time in developing your identity and purpose and understand that you will evolve over time.
