Two Service Initiatives

Mustard Seed is a furniture and clothing bank assisting to rebuild the lives of those who have suffered disaster or tragedy by providing clothing and furniture while being environmentally responsible.

While at National Leadership Conference our sisters participated in mattress recycling. Through the Mustard Seed mattress recycling program they have saved 21,428 mattresses from ending up in the landfill in 2015 alone. As 90% of every mattress is recyclable, they have saved over 1.5 million cubic feet of landfill space to date. Volunteers in this area break down the mattresses and prepare the pieces for recycling.

41 sisters went to Mustard Seed and recycled over 50 mattresses in 3 hours. The bed frames were deconstructed to make biofuel and the mattress foam + padding turns into carpet. Mustard Seed strives to protect the environment and help its local with clothing donations as well as household resources.
