Although the main purpose of the NAA Getaway was to have a relaxing vacation

with Sisters friends an families, as Sister of Kappa Delta Chi we couldn't resist the opportunity to give back.

Our service project for the NAA Getaway took place at the Three Square Food Bank,

Three Square is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, and a member of Feeding America. Established in 2007, Three Square is Southern Nevada’s only food bank and the area’s largest hunger-relief organization. Their mission is to provide wholesome food to hungry people, while passionately pursuing a hunger-free community.

Upon arriving at Three Square, the food bank was way behind on their weekly and monthly quotas due to the lack of helping hands during the month of January. Upon leaving Three square food bank, our group of Aluma Sisters were able to push the food bank over a week ahead of schedule. As a group we:

helped pack 1,176 Backpack for Kids weekend meals helped pack 1,152 Mobile Pantry grocery bags helped sort and sanitize enough bins to distribute 10,500 Kids Cafe meals for children and for families who are food insecure and hungry in the Southern Nevada Community for the 2017 year Three Square has a goal of providing 38 million pounds of grocery products to families and communities in need and as a Sisterhood we helped put a large dent in their goal.

As Alumnae, sometimes it can be very easy to become preoccupied with work, family, higher education and other aspects of life, however, being able to come together as Alumnae members of Kappa Delta Chi from different points in life and the country was a great opportunity to reconnect with the Sisterhood that we love while also making a meaningful impact on the world.

A FEW MORE...

Keeping the sisters of KDChi safe as well as protecting the organization is extremely important to me, because I want to make sure that our sisterhood is still around for women in the future. I want my daughter to be able to call KDChi home someday and find all of the love and support I've found in it.

I've been part of Kappa Delta Chi my entire undergraduate years and I love what this organization can do for others. It motivated me to serve in National Leadership so that I can work alongside women that love Kappa Delta Chi as much as me and help make this organization the best that it can be.

I did not want my time involved within the sorority - as an officer - to end once I graduated so I made the decision to apply for Membership Recruitment Officer. I want to help our entities expand their membership to ladies who need that home away from home.

Initiation: Charter Class Fall 2015 at Beta Omicron Chapter - Northwestern University

Day Job: Full-time Grad Student

Hobbies/Fun Facts: I am a foodie - I love going to new restaurants and trying new foods! Since I love to eat, I also love to work out - it's my self-care treatment and how I like to de- stress. I also love to travel, I am slowly but surely visiting new places.
