Letter from Kappa Delta Chi Emerald Foundation “I greatly appreciate any help that I receive. As it will ease the burden that COVID-19 has brought. I’m thankful for our sisterhood in the way that it supports sisters across the states.” - S I S T E R W H O R E C E I V E D P E N G U I N S H E L P I N G P E N G U I N S F U N D S The Kappa Delta Chi Emerald Foundation is Kappa Delta Chi’s sole Foundation dedicated to supporting its membership through philanthropic support, ensuring the personal, professional, educational, and leadership development needs of its collegians, alumnae, and local community members. Over the last several months the Foundation has been focused on supporting our membership by providing financial support to members who have experienced financial hardship as a direct result of COVID-19. In May, the Foundation reached out to sisters requesting donations of any size to support our members in need. After a two week fundraising drive almost $2,000 was raised. A special thank you to the Alpha Eta and Delta Alpha for raising the most funds and the Epsilon chapter for having the most individual donors. Sisters were then given an opportunity to submit an application requesting funds. The Foundation was overwhelmed with the responses received, 144 sisters requested funding, and each applicant was truly in need of assistance. Although the Foundation only had approximately $9,000 in operating funds the members of the Foundation board knew it was imperative to support sisters in any way they could; it was voted on unanimously to match the raised funds to allow for $4,000 of funds to be distributed. Sixteen sisters were provided with financial support but many more were not able to receive funds. The Foundation is currently sharing stories of sisters who continue to be in need in hopes of further supporting our members through this extraordinary time. In the coming months members can expect to see continued fundraising efforts as well as applications for book scholarships for the fall, spring and summer semesters. Please keep an eye out for those opportunities as there will be rolling deadlines for these book scholarships. Please remember all this and more would never be possible without the support of our donors. We are Stronger Together and the more members who support the Foundation with monthly donations, even in the amount of $5 a month, provide us the opportunity to continue to support our members and the organization.
