The Emerald Newsletter | Kappa Delta Chi Sorority Fall 2017 | Page 21

Sisters of Kappa Delta Chi,

It is with sincere humility that I address you in this capacity. The current members of the Board of Directors selected me to fill the role of Chair after Ruby Alvarado-Hernandez stepped down to focus on the growth and development of our Emerald Foundation. I am honored to continue working with the members of our leadership, and I feel there are always opportunities for us to grow and learn from one another.

2017 has been a momentous year for our sisterhood, from celebrating our 30th anniversary to addressing the reality of the world around us and how it presents itself within the context of our sisterhood. Above all, I have seen our sisters come together and show resilience, determination and a shared sense of purpose; United through Service to be a voice for change. We will look back and say we are better because of the challenges we overcame together.

I look forward to serving each of you, and will reach out to many of you this year to solicit your feedback, because it is necessary to ensure we are serving one another effectively. Feel free to contact me with any comments or suggestions at [email protected].

In sisterhood,

Akisha Hernandez
