The howto's of Create a SnapChat GeoFilter

By Alicia Bustillos, Communications Officer

SnapChat geofilters are one of the newest ways to create buzz around an event, a city or a special moment. And luckly the people at SnapChat have made it super easy to contribute a fun geofilter in three simple steps.

Ensure your design meets SnapChat guidelines & upload artwork.

Use your own design created in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator following the SnapChat guidlines provided here or use a SnapChat template provided by them. Don't have access to Photoshop or Illustrator? Use the simple online tools provided by SnapChat to design a Geofilter for events. No Photoshop skills are required!

Choose dates & draw fence.

Choose date, time and location of where you would like the geofilter to function. Step two on the website will have a map where you will then choose the location of where this geofilter will be made available. Don't cast too wide of a net because you want sisters (& potential sisters!) to be able to enjoy the uniqueness of your filter! A good size would be the Student Union Building, multicultural greek office, or where the office of student activities is locatied. Remember price is based on time & square footage of your geoflter.

Pay up!

This is the final step in creating a geofilter but not the end! After paying, even after submitting your payment Snapchat reserves the right to accept or decline your request for any reason and at any time, including after your Geofilter has been launched. The may require additional verifications or information before accepting any order. For this reason make sure to submit

your geofilter with plenty of time before the event so that if it does get rejected there is plenty of time to revise & resubmit.
