LASTS FOREVER
by Callie Fagan
Friendship is forever.
It’s the oxygen filling your lungs, keeping you alive.
Friendship is the seed of happiness.
It’s planted in the dense soil, growing over the years and getting stronger.
The roots submerge deep in the ground.
Nothing can dig them up.
But one day,
there’s no oxygen,
no water,
no crutch,
no opposing force.
And the friendship ends.
Friendship is a crutch.
You can never fall with them by your side.
Any gash can be healed by your best friend.
Friendship is like magnets.
It’s the theory of opposites attracting.
The differences between you, only make you stronger.
But friendships can be broken.
The oxygen stops circulating through your lungs.
Without it you suffocate.
Gasping for a breathe of refreshing air, but it’s not there.
The seed that was planted, grew strong but the bulldozer was stronger.
The roots were pried from the dense soil.
Nothing left.
The crutch that once kept you from falling, breaks.
You try to walk, you try to run, you fall...

The magnets weaken.
They fall apart.
No more force pulling them together so they just drift apart.
Friendship is your lungs depending on solely oxygen.
A seed thriving from water.
Legs relying on a crutch.
A magnet attracting to an opposite force.
