SHE WHO SHAPESHIFTS
by Shauna Benning
The sun and moon are jealous of one another.
The way she splits herself in two,
But no side is better than the other.
She’s just like me and just like you.
The perfect mix of light and dark
She hates a bulb that has no shade.
She doesn’t love. She doesn’t hate.
Why conform? She just Creates.
No dominance could ever mask her recessive
To stay completely in the middle, impressive.
When they diverge, she digresses, and being
Perfect is the lesser of the lesson.
She is the leader of two worlds.
Heaven is hers and so is hell.
The wonderful joy of pain is heard.
Beautiful words, but they all yell.
She shapeshifts, and so should you.
Imagine all the things you’d do
If no allegiance kept you true.
You’d love the red in shades of blue.
