CALUM FRASER - MUSICAL DIRECTOR
Calum Fraser is a versatile conductor who specialises in operatic and choral repertoire. He
studied at The University of Manchester and with Simon Halsey, Adrian Partington and Sarah
Tenant-Flowers at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. In addition to his work with
Winterbourne Opera, Calum is the founding Artistic Director of Magnetic Opera, with whom he
will be performing The Barber of Seville at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe next month. From 2011
to 2013, he was Musical Director of Opera’r Ddraig, where productions included Acis and Galatea,
Così fan tutte, Dido and Aeneas and Orpheus in the Underworld. Calum is a founding Musical
Director of Scottish chamber choir Caledonian Voices and also currently directs The University of
Nottingham Choir. Previously, he has worked with St George’s Singers, The Cheshire Consort,
Ad Solem and The Martin Harris Singers. Calum has appeared in masterclasses with leading
conductors including Richard Bonynge, Robert Dean and Eric Whitacre. Calum is delighted to be
making his debut with Winterbourne Opera this evening.
