Muse: Why did you decide on fashion designing?

Alberto: “Well, I grew up with a family where everyone knew how to sew. So, I always had an ability to design and sew. This was an opportunity and I just took it. Growing up with a family that was in the business was a big factor.”

Muse: What are you usually inspired by? Tell me about your design process.

Alberto: “I believe that there are different ways to design. Sometimes you see an object from the past and are inspired. Sometimes with a mannequin you drape fabric and are inspired. I am also inspired by different fabric, silhouettes, colours and sketching. There are so many different ways to design.”

Muse: What does fashion mean to you?

Alberto: “Fashion is a way to express our artistic side. Fashion is really important because we wear it every single day and if we can use the clothes to show people who we are. It is important not only for me but for everybody.”

Muse: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

Alberto: “I am thinking right now it’s hard to make a career. Any career, not only fashion. Right now I’m putting my name out there hoping people will get to know me. My goal is in 5 years people will recognize me and know what I do. I want to have a life too because that’s really important. In 5 years I want to have a balance between life and my career.”

Muse: How would you describe your personal style?

Alberto: “I think it’s classy, elegant and safe. Something you would feel comfortable in.”

Muse: What is your biggest achievement so far?

Alberto: “Having a successful relationship and life balance. Support is most important in this career. The learning process is an achievement in itself.”

What are your fashion staples?

Alberto: “I need boots. Shoes of course. Blazers, jeans of course and a nice coat. Right now a denim coat.”

Where do you like to shop?

Alberto: “Mexico. Because I know where to shop in Mexico. I don’t know where to shop here. Hudson Bay and Simons are nice. Simons because they actually support local designers.”

How would You describe the clothes you design?

Alberto: “Chic, sensual, sophisticated, tailored structured. Lots of lines and shapes. I always have so many pieces.”

Who is your fave designer?

Alberto: “Coco Chanel. I saw the movie and I thought oh my gosh. She was the first woman wearing pants. She designed suits for women. I just love her.”
