Muse: How would you describe your personal style?

Francis: “In the new age of designing, sustainability is a huge factor that we have to consider. For me as a designer, I’m still trying to figure out ways to be sustainable. A good way to do this is to buy clothing second hand from thrift shops or vintage clothes. 90% of my closet is thrifted while the other 10% is high quality, high end clothing at affordable prices. I am a big believer in quality over quantity, SAY NO TO FAST FASHION.”

Muse: What has been your biggest achievement so far?

Francis: “My biggest achievement is the wedding dress I made. I was so nervous when I was asked to the dress because I have never done anything like that. What was so great that before working on the wedding dress I ended up doing evening gowns but the biggest reward was seeing it on the bride. Being such a huge part of a monumental and special day was truly a gift and a blessing.I am so grateful.”

Muse: What are your fashion staples?

Francis: “My fashion staples are a good blazer. A crisp and structured white tee. A good pair of blue jeans, high waisted and tapered at the ankle. A pair of white sneakers, my fave are Adidas Stan Smith. Last but not least a good canvas tote bag.”

Muse: Where do you like to shop?

Francis: “I Love to thrift at Value Village and Goodwill. A lot of amazing second hand sellers in Edmonton sell vintage or gently used clothing. Vespucci consignment does really good high end gently worn clothes. I love Aritzia for the quality of the clothes at an affordable price. I know the clothes are good quality and last which is why I don’t feel guilty about making those kind of purchases.”

Muse: How would you describe the clothes you design?

Francis: “The clothes I design are timeless, sexy, powerful, and elegant... like me.”

Muse: Besides yourself of course. Who is your fave fashion designer?

Francis: “I have 3. Zac Posen, Jean Galliano for Dior and Thierry Mugler. What I love about all three is that they all know how to make fantasy come alive and what they do is beyond clothes. It’s art .”
