Taking a bit of time to interact with cats, inquire about what observations their caregivers have seen so far, and self-reflection on what kind of cat you're REALLY looking for can help us, and yourself find the PURRfect match for you!
Do you have a cat behaviour question you'd like addressed? Please email [email protected]. If your question is selected as next month's topic, you'll win an hour in our cat lounge, coffee included!
Where does this cat prefer to spend it's time? (Up high? You may need to clear some space on your higher furniture, invest in a tall cat tree, or consider installing some shelves in your home to give the cat places to go. Wide open spaces? What's the layout and general upkeep of your home looking like? If you're not inclined to tidy, or your space is very small, this might be an issue. Always in covered areas?
Cave dweller, might need some really fun cat houses!)
Would you consider opening your home to an older cat? (General lifespan for indoor cats is 12-18 years, although some cats live into their 20's.) Kittens and younger cats tend to get adopted quite quickly, where sometimes older cats can stay in shelters and fosters for many months.
