Accidental Beach Becomes Accidentally Awesome!
A local set of gents that go by the band name of Electric Audrey 2 set out to write a song for the 2017 All Albertan Song Contest hosted by ATB. What came of it was an awesome ska-infused tropical tune that carries in that EA2 kick of tempo changes, witty lyricism and even a mariachi band. Teaming up with the fabulous local rockabilly icon, Carla Rugg, there are a multitude of flavors to be had while having a "tropical island getaway, done the Alberta way".
Though the song did not place in the contest, co-writer and producer, Oakland Valleau stated:
"I saw an article in the Sun titled, 'Crap Beach' and wanted to change the perspective because it's an awesome thing that happened to this city and we hope it can come back next year."
The song is catchy and engaging and really captures the fun and community that this accident brought to the summer of 2017. Though there are some municipal regulations and liabilities to consider for the community of Cloverdale, hopefully a good compromise and release of all the red tape can bring this beach back to our city shores.
In the mean time, you can listen to this this song and even download it for FREE here! Sit back, close your eyes, sip that PiƱa Colada and sing along.
"Heeey, meet me at the river side. This ain't no mirage, it's Accidental Beach!"
