Entertainer of the Month
Angela Palmer
“Trust your gut because if all you can do is create to be happy, then you find whatever means you need to do it and do it as best as you can.”
My home will always be in Edmonton
Edmonton has been a base of many careers in the entertainment industry. From music to acting, we have an arts community that flourishes and persists, despite and adversities and barriers that may come across.
Angela Palmer is a great example of the talent that exists within Edmonton. Though her career has taken her elsewhere, her heart still belongs to this city.
"I am an artist. I love my city and I miss it but right now Vancouver is where I reside and work out of. I feel that it was the right move and it has been very beneficial for my career. There are a lot more opportunities here for me. But I miss Edmonton. I miss that spirit. It has such an awesome and strong independent film community there.
The cool thing about Edmonton is that it pushes you to have learn to wear more than one hat. It taught me how to persevere.
There are a lot of actors out there that are not just actors. They are writing, acting, directing, picking up a camera... What ever they have to do. I love that because we depended on each other so much that we were able to create a lot of our own opportunities. We faced adversity together, recognized what we had and just went with it."
And what is her Muse? Angela says, "I don’t have a particular person. I have a desire to act and I can’t explain where that fire comes from. All I know is that it feels good and I fulfill my purpose when I am creating. So the work itself is what actually inspires me. I love how it makes me feel."
We should do the things that we enjoy because it is the experience that we should ultimately be chasing after. It helps us grow and teach tohers. I feel connected to the experience more than anything else
