Dips

Makes your joints stronger and reduces your chance of injuries

What Are Dips?

A dip is an exercise commonly used for strength training which focuses primarily on the tricep muscles. It can also target your shoulders, your chest and a bit of your back.

The Breakdown

A dip can be done from extended bars or even something as simple as a bench.

Using a bench, have a seat on the bench and rest the palms of your hands on the edge of the bench with your fingers hanging off the side. Take one big step forward until you are completely off the bench keeping your palms firmly on the edge of the bench. As you lower yourself make sure you bend your arms to about a 90 degree before pushing yourself back up.

Functionality

Dips are considered a ‘push’ exercise and are great to incorporate into strength training regimen. They are great for building up strength and muscle. Doing them on their own is challenging enough and you can also add weight to increase the challenge.
