The organisation was founded in 1948 by a small group of European students from seven countries united by the belief that the promotion of international peace could be built through true international understanding. ?AIESEC is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. AIESEC is the world’s biggest youth-run organization. Its foundation in 1948 is commemorated on five continents by a series of conferences. The AIESEC International and the Belgian celebration will be held in Brussels from 27 th - 29th June 2008. ?What began in 1948 as an organization to help develop "friendly relations" between member countries is now a global association with activities in over 100 different countries and territories. ?The organisation focuses on providing a platform for leadership development and offers over 6500 leadership opportunities each year, in addition to over 4400 international internship opportunities annually.
