D’Marquis Vreen
D’Marquis Vreen owner of East University Hungry Howie’s, was
born and raise in a small town called, Palatka, Fl. where most
people just call him “D”. Mr. Vreen briefly moved away but
return to Gainesville to start his career in the food industry,
which jump started his lifelong goal in becoming a restaurant
owner, says Mr. Vreen.
Mr. Vreen lives on the eastside of Gainesville and felt a need
to bring his store to the eastside because he realize there
weren’t any Hungry Howie’s located in the area.
Mr. Vreen says the community has embrace the store and
appreciate bringing his business to the community. Customers
has shown him a lot of love and support said Mr. Vreen.
The store officially opened on Sept. 18, 2017. Codes may have
been one of his biggest hurdle, which delayed his opening by a
few months but Mr. Vreen says it was well worth it. The building
he choose was one of the few building he could find to meet his
needs and has the right location.
