New Year, New Me
As surreal as it sounds, 2015 is coming to a close, and as usual, everyone’s positive side is awakening in hopes of changing for the better this coming year. It’s that time of year when everyone starts setting goals that they hope to start achieving after the clock strikes 12 on January 1st. Sadly, most of those goals never seem to pull through, whether they be something like: “I’m going to start eating healthy” or “I’m going to completely improve my motivation”. To stay faithful to your goals and come out of 2016 a true champion, here are a few tips:
Set goals that you 100% want to achieve
Most people set goals that they want to achieve “at the moment”. Instead, set goals that will benefit you on the long run. The sky is the limit; you can achieve anything if you set your mind to it, so never change your mind and never back down.
Keep a positive outlook
Don’t complain, don’t nag, and don’t procrastinate. If you really want to achieve these resolutions of yours, exert all your efforts into fulfilling them or else you will lose interest and not succeed.
If unsure, seek advice!
If you are uncertain of what you might need to achieve your resolutions, you can always ask for help from your parents or any other trustworthy source.
Find ways to make it interesting
Achieving your goals is always an exciting thing, but sometimes, you might lose sight of your purpose. Try and make things interesting by incorporating new activities or fun studying habits (if your goal is higher marks, for example).
Do it for you and not for anyone else
Always remember that you don’t need to please anyone but yourself; these resolutions shouldn’t be set for the sake of anyone because in the end, you are the one who is going to be stuck with them for twelve months.
You’re great the way you are
Your resolutions should be ones that help you improve rather than change drastically, unless it is absolutely necessary of course. Remember, though, to always aim for positive goals.
Think about the outcome
Imagine the sense of prosperity and content that you will have when you finally achieve what you set your mind too. How amazing would it be to finally say: “I did it!” with arms raised in the air?
New Year resolutions are made every single year; make sure you’re one of those people that actually achieve them this year. Don’t waste your days feeling unaccomplished and incomplete, and don’t leave those resolutions hanging. Let your surrounding motivate you to be a better person and a better student, and remember, there is always next year.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
