We like re-watching Christmas movies because it reminds us of good times and brings about nostalgia; perhaps it is also a reminder that we are still kids at heart, no matter how much we grow up.

From their funny plots to their catchy titles, Christmas movies are an annual tradition for every family. Personally, my favourite film series is Home Alone - the first two parts to be exact. No matter how many times I watch it, either alone or with my family, we always laugh like it is the first time we watch it. (I really hope I watch it this year despite the whirlwind I am currently in).

Here I am rambling once again...let’s get to the movies, shall we?

Home Alone:

Simply put, the movie talks about how an 8 year

old trouble-maker has to protect his home from

two burglars when he is accidentally left home

alone (hence the title) by his family during

Christmas vacation. This movie is ultimately a

favourite of mine; it is hilarious and the storyline is epic. As well as making you laugh, the movie has an important message: family

is what really matters. While the idea of being left home alone seems satisfying to Kevin, he realizes that being with family during the holidays is much better.

Home Alone 2:

Kevin is left home alone once again...but this time, he is Lost in New York. When he accidently gets on a different plane than his family, Kevin ends up in New York all alone and finds the same burglars plotting to rob a famous toy store. This time, Kevin has to defeat the criminals and find his family. Again, the film ends on a cheery note after he finds his family and the police catch the criminals, teaching us that Christmas is never the same without family.

3- Elf:

Will Ferrell being an elf in a movie...what else can we ask for? Hehe. I am a huge fan of Will Ferrell and his movies, and I think the whole world can agree that this is a movie worth watching during Christmas time. In a nutshell, the movie talks about a man raised as an elf finding his true identify as a human after transferring from the North Pole to New York, spreading Christmas cheer and happiness everywhere he goes. The film is filled with positivity, Buddy’s entertaining and humorous songs, and hilarious anecdotes.

4- A Christmas Carol:

An animated re-telling of Charles Dickens’s classic novel, this movie stars Jim Carrey and Colin Firth. The plot revolves around Ebenezer Scrooge, who begins the Christmas holiday with his usual miserly contempt, shouting at his cheery nephew and a clerk. When the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come take him on an eye-opening journey revealing truths Old Scrooge is reluctant to face, he must open his heart to undo years of ill will before it's too late. The movie tells a story of redemption, self-discovery, and forgiveness.

There are obviously many more movies to watch in Christmas, but unfortunately, I can’t fit them all here. Movies like Scrooged, A Christmas Story and How the Grinch Stole Christmas and many more are just as pleasant to watch on Christmas time as any of those mentioned.

I hope you all get together in Christmas and have a jolly time with your loved ones while watching such movies or just hanging around with each other. Merry Christmas, everyone, and have a Happy New Year!

Yep, it is that time of the year again *hears jingle bells ringing from the distance*- KEVIN! IT'S CHRISTMAS!
